Spode Platter

A large and important Spode platter. Pattern is “Indian Sporting” Series. It is the most celebrated of all Spode patterns – the multi-scene pattern (there are 17 in total) first introduced in about 1815 using plates from Oriental Field Sports,Wild Sports of the East written by Captain Thomas Williamson and illustrated by Samuel Howitt. This is a particularly large platter, length 500mm. Impressed “18” to rear. Not otherwise marked. Condition is very good. There is a small amount of glaze loss to the rim but overall the transfer is clear & bright. Price on request.
